An asterisk * is a wildcard: When searching in the OPAC for a list of items of a specific material type, use an asterisk* in the Word/Phrase box to bring up everything that matches the chosen material type. In this example, this search would bring up all the DVD's in the catalog.

For placing multiple holds: The point of entry for patrons who want to log-in to the catalog once and then place multiple holds without entering their barcode each time is http://midhudsonlibraries.org/patroninfo/.

Creating groups of specific items: Using the asterisk* wildcard mentioned above, here are samples of some of the types of searches you can break out separately. You can view the results, print them, bookmark them in your browser or capture the URL from the top of the results page and make a web page link to a self-refreshing list:
New books at your library: brings up a list of all with publication date of 2006 Using the Advanced Search page, enter search terms (blue) as follows:
Type the WORD(S) you want:

Year: After 2007---- -----------------------------------------Material type: Book
New non-fiction books at your library: Using the Advanced Search page, enter search terms (blue) as follows:
Type the WORD(S) you want:
* and not fiction- ---Pick your library from the drop-down list

New children's books at your library: Using the Advanced Search page, enter search terms (blue) as follows:
Type the WORD(S) you want:
* --------------------- ---Pick your library from the drop-down list
Location: Your library Children

Spanish books at your library:

Using the Advanced Search page, enter search terms (blue) as follows:
Type the WORD(S) you want:
*__ - ------------------Pick your library from the drop-down list
Language: Spanish -----------------------------------------Material type: Book

Mystery fiction at your library, newest first: Click on GENRE search, type in Mystery Fiction, limit to your library through the drop-down menu. Click on Mystery Fiction. Click Limit/Sort Search, check Limit by Date.
