Laura Ingalls Wilder Medal (1960-2007)
This Medal honors an author or illustrator whose books are published in the United States and have made a substantial and lasting contribution to literature for children. It is named after Laura Ingalls Wilder, the first recipient of the Medal. The award was given every five years between 1960 and 1980, every three years between 1983 and 2001, and is now given every two years.
