Reference & Collection Development
Trial Opportunity: There are two exciting ideas for possible online databases that are being discussed by the MHLS Central Library / Collection Development Advisory Committee. One for Antiques & Collectables pricing and one for Chiltons automotive repair. Each of these possibilities targets unique groups of patrons and provides resources that are currently not available. Trial access to both of these resources has been arranged (expires 8.10.06), check them out to help in the decision making. Links to both trials: http://midhudson.org/collection/main.htm. The password was sent through the MHLS Director's Listserv. Please note: the password is case sensitive.

Price It! Antiques & Collectibles: an antique/collectibles pricing tool, containing data from a variety of sources, including online auctions (eBay), online antique dealers (GoAntiques & TIAS) and over 50 auction houses. The database currently has over 23 million prices realized for art, antiques and collectibles in more than 100 categories and subcategories with over 10 million images. Nearly 2 million records are being added each month.

ChiltonLibrary.com: automotive repair information available to car owners. There are thousands of year, make and model combinations covering the most popular vehicles of the past 30 years, plus additional coverage of specialty models. ChiltonLibrary.com gives you the confidence to service or repair virtually any system on your vehicle. Information sheet and navigation guide at http://www.gale.com/ChiltonLibrary/.

Resource Sharing & Millennium
If you have long overdue items that have gone to Billed status... to remove them they must be checked in. To have the replacement cost to remain on the patron's record a document on the Resource Sharing & Millennium page will walk you through the process using the lost and paid function. [http://midhudson.org/resource/Millennium/Circulation/Instructions/Lost%20and%20Paid.pdf] This does now put a manual stop on the patron's card, but if the item in question is over $9.99 they will be blocked by Millennium for all transactions.
