Remember to check for collection development materials in the MHLS Professional Collection in these categories: Collection Development/Children, Collection Development/Young Adult and Weeding.

• ALA Notable Children's Books (birth to age 14)
• Award winning book lists
• Center for Children's Books-Lists of suggested books for different subject areas, award winners and other categories.
• Elementary Level Materials-Lists of 150 books in each of five genres: realistic fiction, historical fiction, fantasy/science fiction, folklore and biography. Books still in print were chosen from award lists using these criteria.
• Reference Core Collection (for 4th Grade and Up)-List prepared by Barbara Haymann-Diaz, Head of Children's Services at Poughkeepsie Public Library District
• Teen Selections-Here are lists of the "Best of" in fiction and non-fiction as well as other lists.
