How
to insert an image from the Microsoft Gallery
Microsoft comes loaded with a gallery
that has several images for you to use.
To insert one of these images into your Word Document:
1. From your open Word document go to Insert and choose Picture and then
Clip Art. This will open into the gallery.
2. To search the gallery, type in a keyword (such as
Books) in the Search for clips box and then press Enter.
3. Click on the image you would like to insert and an icon menu will
appear. Click the first icon, which is Insert clip.
4. Close out of the gallery and return to your document.
- The image should now be in your document. You may need to format and
size the image.
How
to download an image from Microsoft Office
Online
If you want to download more images
you can search Microsoft Office online (you must have Internet
access).
1. From your open document go to Insert and choose Picture and then Clip
Art. This will open into the gallery.
2. At the top of the gallery box go to Clips Online (if
prompted by a dialogue box about Internet access choose OK). You
are now in the Microsoft Office Online webpage.
3. Under the Search drop down menu choose Clip art and then type in a
keyword that pertains to your search, such as books. Click Go.
* There will most likely be several images displayed. You may want to
browse before you decide what to use.
4. If there are several images that you want to download click on the
box below the image to add them to your Selection Basket.
5. When you have selected all of the images that you want to download,
go to Selection Basket on the left side of the page.
6. Choose Download # Items (the exact number of items
you have chosen will be written where the # is).
7. A download page will open. Click the Download Now button. (A
dialogue box about licensing may appear, if so, choose accept or your clips
will not load.)
8. A File Download dialogue box will then come up. Choose Open. Do
not choose Save.
-The images will now be in your gallery. You can access them by using
the instructions from How to insert an image from the Microsoft
Gallery.
How to
copy an image from Microsoft Office Online
If you want to insert one image
from Microsoft Office Online directly into your document:
1. From your open document
go to Insert and choose Picture and then Clip Art. This will open into the gallery.
2. At the top of the gallery box go to Clips Online (if
prompted by a dialogue box about Internet access choose OK). You
are now in the Microsoft Office Online webpage.
3. Under the Search drop down menu choose Clip art and then type in a
keyword that pertains to your search, such as books. Click Go.
4. Place your cursor
over the image. A box will appear with an arrow (signifying
a drop down box). Click on the arrow and then choose Copy.
5. Close out of the gallery and go back into your document.
6. Place the cursor where you would like the image to be inserted and then
go to Edit and choose Paste (you can also use the Paste icon
or the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + V).
- The image should now be in your document. You may need to format and size
the image.

-The TIFF is the largest and the clearest, best for saving photographs.
-The JPEG is small but does not have the best clarity.
-The GIF is small and clear, good for web graphics.
