Conducting the Feasibility Study
We started off by doing a feasibility study [of the community]. Initially, this study is to find out if the money is out there, and what your target should be.

The study does a few things: gauges the money [in the community] and helps to understand what the community sees as a library's role. This gives the community a chance to express their opinions as to what they would like to see if the library were to be enlarged. Because, initially, some people said 'we don't need to enlarge the library' we knew we needed to prove that we had really done our research and homework to show these people that the town needed a larger library. We were able to win them over.
