"The
greatest test of courage on earth is to bear defeat without losing heart."
Robert Ingersoll
RESPONDING TO A LOSS:
Losing is disappointing, especially
when you have put forth consistent effort to demonstrate your library's value
and needs to the community. Don't lose heart! It is worth noting that many libraries
have experienced their first success with a public vote after several failures.
If your vote was not successful, there are several proactive steps you can take
that will position you for future success.
ACTION STEPS FOR LIBRARIES:
This Campaign
Planning Guide is part of the Getting to Yes grant project. Getting
to Yes is funded by Federal Library Services and Technology Act funds,
awarded to the New York State Library by the Federal Institute of Museum and
Library Services.
