Local
Adult Authors |
NOTE: In response to
requests from MHLS member libraries, this list has been created to help you
identify area authors/illustrators to invite for library visits.
Ways to contact people on the
list:
- In most cases, unless library
staff know the author/illustrator's personal contact information, it will
be necessary to book them through their publisher or agent.
- If the author/illustrator listed
has a website, it will be linked to their name, which may facilitate contact.
- Consider asking other area libraries
if they have booked the author and how they contacted them.
- Try the phone book. You might
get lucky!
Keep in mind that the library
should negotiate the fee to be charged for the visit, as many of them will
present programs at local public libraries at reasonable rates. Fees will
vary, as some are established authors/illustrators whereas others are just
starting out. Do negotiate with them; most authors have a real fondness for
libraries!
IMPORTANT: If
you know of local authors/illustrators in your community who will present library
programs, please contact Margaret
Keefe with this information so they can be added to this list. Please include
author name, county of residence and contact information (as long as you are
authorized to disclose it).
If an author below has written nonfiction, the topic is generally listed; assume
the rest have written fiction. An asterisk* indicates the author has done presentations at the Staatsburg Library so you may contact Staatsburg Director, Anne Jordan for more information.
