Patron Group Descriptions

Patrons often have special needs when they belong to a particular group. This website offers information resources for the following groups: back to work, career-changers, college students, disabled, ex-offenders, first job, Hispanic, minorities, non-English speakers, senior citizens, teens and women. Use site resources to serve these patron groups better within your library. Following is a description of each group:

Back to Work: retirees, stay-at-home parents, or others reentering the workforce after a period of unemployment

Career-Changers: current workers interested in a different field, ex-military, retirees, the unemployed

College Students: students investigating marketable majors, and graduates seeking internships or permanent employment

Disabled: individuals with mobility, hearing or visual impairments

Ex-Offenders: individuals with a criminal record

First Job: high school or college graduates seeking employment for the first time.

Hispanic: individuals needing Spanish-language resources

Minorities: ethnic groups, disabled individuals, older individuals and women

Non-English Speakers: individuals needing help with English and contacts for ESL training

Seniors: retirees and job seekers over forty

Teens: individuals seeking summer employment, internships or volunteer opportunities, wishing to explore careers, or obtain job seeking advice.

Women: individuals reentering the workforce, first-time job seekers, career changers
