Receiving hold pickup, overdue, and courtesy notices (items due soon and attempted autorenewals) via SMS Text messages is an optional feature for patrons. They are sent in addition to, not in replacement of normal notices from Sierra. Patrons must agree to the Terms and Conditions in the process, as there may be SMS charges depending on their agreement with their carrier.
Patrons opt in via a dedicated signup page (link coming soon) and can easily opt out via text. Only patrons can opt themselves in – it cannot be done through Sierra. However, staff can opt patrons out within Sierra.
Changing Providers - Date TBD 2026
MHLS will be upgrading to Vega Interact SMS in 2026. This will allow us Innovative to continue adding features and options.
As part of the change, patrons who are currently signed up for texts will need to sign up for the new service to continue subscribing. More information will be released shortly.
