Did you know the Mid-Hudson Library System (MHLS) is home to 66 unique libraries? That’s 70 main & branch library locations for you and your family to explore throughout Columbia, Dutchess, Greene, Putnam, and Ulster counties.
Between June 6th and October 18th, we invite you to visit as many MHLS Member Library locations as you can – learn about the different programs and services each library offers to its community and earn souvenirs along the way!

Earn souvenirs* by achieving visit milestones:
- Visit your first 10 locations to earn a sticker
- Visit all the member libraries in a single county to earn a special edition magnet
- Visit 35 locations to earn a special edition tote bag
- Visit all 70 locations to earn a special edition Library Card
*All souvenirs are available while supplies last, so be sure to start your adventure early!

Road Trip FAQs
What is the Library Road Trip program?
This is a collaborative program among the sixty-six (66) MHLS member libraries in Columbia, Dutchess, Greene, Putnam, and Ulster counties. This exciting initiative encourages community members to visit the 70 library locations.
Fun fact, there are also two bookmobiles in the system – participants are welcome to visit them but they are not included in this road trip program.
What is the Mid-Hudson Library System?
The Mid-Hudson Library System (MHLS) is a cooperative public library system chartered by the New York State Board of Regents and overseen by the New York State Education Department via the Division of Library Development (DLD). MHLS is dedicated to working together with sixty-six (66) member libraries in the Mid-Hudson region to strengthen local library services while saving local tax dollars. MHLS provides essential resources to member libraries and multiplies the funds that enable local libraries to continue serving patrons, keeping our communities strong, connected, and thriving well into the future.
Who can participate?
Everyone! This is a program for people all ages, who reside in, or outside of the Mid-Hudson Library System Services Area. Please note, for patrons residing outside the service area, the special edition library card will be a collectible memento only and will not provide access to library collections.
No library card required! …although we encourage service area residents to apply. Ask your local member library for details.
How can I find out about accessibility accommodations at each stop on the road trip?
Contact the member library location you are visiting to learn about accessibility features and any available accommodation options.
How do I receive my souvenirs?
All souvenirs are available while supplies last:
- Stickers and car magnets will be distributed at the time the milestone is achieved while local stock lasts.
- Tote bags and special edition library cards need to be requested by staff and will be delivered to the member library location of the participant’s choosing for pick up (please allow up to 10 business days for delivery). Souvenirs cannot be shipped directly to participants.
