The Mahopac Library and the Pawling Free Library are both featured in the latest issue of JLAMS, the peer-reviewed journal of the New York Library Association, which is devoted to the topic of the library “as refuge”: The editors of the issue dedicated it to all the libraries and library staff whose dedication to their communities shone forth during recent emergencies and natural disasters such as Sandy as well as those who take on serious community problems to maintain their libraries as places of refuge and opportunity.
