Census Deadline Changed

The U.S. Census Bureau recently announced that it will now end field data collection by September 30th, 2020. This date is one month earlier than previously reported. Self-response options will also close on that date to permit the commencement of data processing. Under this plan, the Census Bureau intends to meet a similar level of household responses as collected in prior censuses, including outreach to hard-to-count communities, but shortening operations could mean millions of people are uncounted. You can advocate now for an accurate count by calling your Senator to have an extension to Census collection efforts included in the Senate COVID-19 bill.
