Communicating About Climate Change

COMMUNICATING ABOUT CLIMATE CHANGE: The Rutgers Cooperative Extension will provide an overview of climate change communication for the library field on Wednesday, January 25th, at 2:00 PM.
Dr. David Robinson, Distinguished Professor and NJ State Climatologist, will discuss the causes and mechanisms of climate change, how climate change has already affected NJ, and likely additional short- and long-term impacts. Dr. Cara Cuite, an Assistant Extension Specialist with expertise in risk communication, will discuss best practices for communication with the public about climate change with special considerations for librarians. She will focus on how to connect with an audience on climate change, elements of climate change to focus on and avoid, and the importance of narrative in climate communication. The presentation will use non-technical language and be appropriate for anyone interested in increasing their ability to engage with the public on issues of climate. Registration is required.
